Death: Tea Ceremony
Welcome to week 2 of the death card!
Tea Ceremony:
ALCHEMY + THE POWER OF 3 + EARTHY TEA
Continuing on the theme of wintering...for this week's ritual I invite you to get cozy and grab a cup of tea (something earthy/ warming like ginger or cinnamon!) and your tarot deck. Now lay out in front of you:
the death card
the empress card
the 3 of wands
the 3 of cups
the 3 of pentacles
the 3 of swords
Numerologically we're working with the degree of 3 (Empress= 3, Death= 13 which is the higher degree of 3) So we are dealing with creation (empress) and destruction (death) but actually they are both alchemical (the number 3 is associated w/ alchemy).
All destruction leads to change/ rebirth, so nothing really dies. Loss is a sign you are growing. Creationally, both the empress and death represent a part of your life that's in a growth stage...In one instance things are minimized (death) and it creates efficiency which creates alchemy. In the other instance things are added (empress) and it brings birth which also brings alchemy.
None is better than the other. Adding things can mean abundance but can also mean weeds, overgrowth, and disease. Taking away things can mean loss but also space for new life, rebirth, and renewal.
Winter is a death season so we're looking at what's been lost, what we may be grieving, no matter how big or small, and how the minimizing of our life is creating space for change.
Personally, I had an experience of losing a home that was special to me...I had been there 6 years and it had 30 acres. But leaving cleared out fresh psychic space. New ideas emerged...I found myself taking more risks and gaining clients, stretching my capacity for discomfort which changed me for the better. We are adaptable creatures, and the death card shows us this!
Look at your death card and the other cards mentioned. Ask yourself with each one, "Where is this energy happening in my life, or did it recently happen?" See if you can notice which of the cards is dominating your life energetically...which aspect of the number 3 (alchemy) is happening?
Is it the pleasure alchemy of the 3 of cups?
The teamwork and trial and error/ group alchemy of the 3 of pentacles?
The heartbreak and loss alchemy of the 3 of swords?
Or are you alchemizing by putting a new vision out there like the 3 of wands?
What's growing like the empress? What are you birthing?
What has died like the death card? What have you minimized or cleared? (Or what still needs to be?)
Have fun with this ritual and feel free to report your findings in the comments :)
